The problem with batteries is that they never last very long. Even the ones that say they are made for long life conk out at the most inopportune times. Batteries in an ordinary flash camera tend to have a very long lifespan, but if you use a digital camera, a CD player, or a portable DVD player, you know how fast even the most expensive batteries wear out. My Kodak Easyshare camera runs though a ten-dollar battery after about 350 shots. Not too bad, but that can definitely get expensive, especially if you take a lot of pictures. So to save myself a little time, I bought a rechargeable battery.
A rechargeable battery is a great idea if you fly through batteries at an alarming rate. You can get them in almost any battery size, and you have to get a recharger to use them. When I got one for my camera, I should have bought more than one. The kind of rechargeable battery my camera uses are now not sold for some reason. I can still get them in the throw away variety, but the rechargeable type is nowhere to be found. So if you have an unusual type of rechargeable battery, make sure you buy more than one when you make a purchase.
You can now find chargers for your rechargeable battery that will hook into your lighter in your car. This worked great for me when I recently took my daughter to see the Wiggles. I take a lot of pictures, and my battery only lasted through one show. Since we drove a long way to see them, we took in both shows, as they normally do two a day. I had two rechargeable AA batteries in the car charging as I used the CR-V3 for the first show. When my battery died, I had a fresh set waiting for me. Had I not had my charger, I would have been buying extra batteries.
You can find almost any brand of rechargeable battery online, and you can usually find them on eBay. Just be careful of shipping costs, and find out where the batteries are coming from. I was looking today and saw that I could find the rechargeable battery I am looking for, and it was priced at 99 cents. I thought that was a great deal, as they usually retail for ten dollars, until I saw the shipping costs. The seller was asking for 16 dollars to ship a battery. That was definitely not a good deal. Make sure you read the fine print before you buy.
