Ball point pens have been around for what seems like forever, but they certainly have evolved. The ball point pens you buy today come in many different types. There are the classic pens that you remember from years gone by, and there are newer ergonomical versions that are meant to help you write better, and take some strain off of your hand. Some ball point pens come with a small pad to keep your finger from getting a sore spot.
Today’s ball point pens also come with a lot of different inks. The newer kind, which I personally prefer, come with what is referred to as gel. I’m not really sure what the difference is, but I find this type of ball point pen writes smoother and tends to leave less of a mess behind. Regular ink often leaves blobs of ink on my paper, and this makes a mess on the side of my hand. I don’t seem to have this problem when I use gel ball point pens.
One great use for ball point pens, other than the obvious, are for promotional tools. You can get ball point pens imprinted with almost anything, and if you have a business, this can be something that will help your business grow. Everyone uses pens, and most people will take a free pen if it is offered to them. They will think of your business every time they pick up that pen, and if they suddenly have a need for what you sell, they will have your number right there on their desk.
If you want to go this route, look around for the best price you can find. You don’t want a pen that will explode on your potential customers, but you don’t have to spend a fortune either. Make sure the company can put what you need onto their ball point pens, and ask about a bulk discount. Usually, the larger the number you order, the lower your per piece rate will be. Be sure to go over all details of your order twice, and double check for mistakes or misprints.
Once you have your promotional ball point pens, make sure you get them out there. You can leave a box of them by your register, and make sure you give one to each customer as they leave if they have not yet picked one up. Give them away anywhere you can, and remember to smile as you do so. A smile and a pen can go a long way.
