Album Cover
Small DogSmall dog I used to think that there was nothing like a German Shepherd or a Rottweiler to make me ..... Having your name listed in the credits on the inside of an album cover is one of the coolest things a small town girl could wish for. When I applied for a job that was listed in the classifieds as a marketing assistant for a nationally known recording artist, I was a bit skeptical my resume would even be looked at. I decided to give it a shot because I really had nothing to lose. After reworking and faxing my resume and cover letter to the number listed, I almost forgot that I had applied. Only two days later, I received a phone call asking me to set up a time for an interview. I eagerly accepted a position within one week of sending in my resume.
Not long after, it was determined that my position would help with the design and layout of the upcoming new album cover. In addition to this I would be marketing the new album and upcoming tour to cd stores, chain super stores and book stores. All in all, it was an exciting position and I started doing my homework on what is usually included on an album cover, as well as looking at other album cover artwork layouts. I began working with the graphic designer on the layout and started working on marketing the product as much as possible.
A few months later, the album cover artwork arrived for approval to send to print. It was the first time I saw my name in the credits and it immediately brought a smile to my face. Not only was I extremely proud of the work that went into that album cover but it was extremely gratifying to see that the company and artist appreciated that work as well. The album cover artwork was approved within a few days and was sent to print.
Flower Fruit BasketNot sure whether you want to send flowers or fruit? Why not send both in a flower ..... Around October, the actual cds came into our offices in huge boxes. We each began opening one, and the smile returned when I saw how wonderful they looked packaged and that my name was on the inside. These cds were going to be in every large super store in the country, as well as in smaller local cd and book stores. In the end, almost one million people purchased that cd and album cover that listed my name. And I framed it and still have it hanging on my wall as a reminder of the hard work that didn’t go unnoticed by a big name artist.
